Between the projectile vomiting and that infamous crucifix scene, The Exorcist shocked audiences to the core, but its creepiest sequence ended up on the cutting room floor.

In this legendary deleted scene, a possessed Regan bends over backwards and 'spider walks' down the stairs, her body contorted into an unnatural position and blood seeping from her open mouth.

Another version of the scene didn't feature the bloody mouth, but gave Regan an equally unsettling forked tongue and had her chasing her mother around the hallway.

The spider walk sequence is as chilling as anything that made it into the final cut of The Exorcist, but director William Friedkin took an axe to it because he felt the special effects were unconvincing.
