The Paranormal Activity series is the ultimate in the "bump in the night" style of films. Focusing on a poltergeist that terrorises the rather unfortunate Katie, played by
Katie Featherston, over a series of two sequels and a prequel. What makes this film so frightening is the technique used whereby the films are shot through a "found handheld camera" style similar to
The Blair Witch Project. This really gives the viewer a sense that they are there as the films events are unfolding, and, along with the tagline "Based on true events", gives the viewer a sense that this could be happening to them. Paranormal Activity is a nerve-shredding affair, as the protagonists are menaced by supernatural phenomenon. If you are up for a ghost film this Halloween, pick this. An upcoming 4th film again revolving around Katie, is set to be released this month on October 19th.
