"Everything Is Awesome" is the title song for The Lego Movie, which is constantly sung by the residents of Bricksburg as they go about their generic lives listening to generic music, watching generic TV shows and basically not thinking for themselves. The song, a collaboration between Tegan and Sara and The Lonely Island, is essentially a parody of homogenised pop music for the masses, but at the same time, it's also an insanely catchy tune in its own right. Like the best satire, it stand on its own entertaining merits but also manages to be a clever joke for the adults. It wouldn't surprise me to see the song show up in the 2015 Oscars for Best Original Song, though perhaps that's just wishful thinking on my part.
