10 Awesome Moments Of Overkill In Movies

2. Bonnie And Clyde (1967)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6egrQZ9w_2c Released in 1967, Arthur Penn's romanticized biopic of two charismatic bank robbers pushed the limits of violence in mainstream Hollywood pictures. His film has been highly controversial from birth for both its glorification of the murderous couple (perfectly cast Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty) and for its shocking - even for today's standards €“ and sudden bursts of graphic violence. After they stopped their car to help a man with a flat tire, the two lovebirds are gunned down in a hail of gunfire by a group of hidden lawmen during what is still considered 'one of the bloodiest death scenes in cinematic history'. After the shootout, the camera pans over the car, riddled with bullets holes and the gunmen lower their weapons, looking pensively at the couple's bodies. You can still feel the impact of the shooting as the credits start rolling. This iconic cinematic moment is stunningly shot and edited and can also be seen as a major influence, among other things, on the tollbooth death scene in the Godfather (1972).
