5. Blasters

Where would the characters of Star Wars be without their trusted blasters? Using there shooting skills to take down the Empire one stormtrooper at a time. But the Star Wars franchise has many unique types of blaster; some are iconic and easily recognised - such as Han Solo€™s, the DL-44 heavy blaster pistol. Although it looks rather bulky it packs a punch as seen in the following clip... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4CprSU375E My personal favourite blaster within the Star Wars films, and forgive me for not going with a traditional one, is one seen in Episode II: Attack Of The Clones called the WESTAR-34 blaster pistol, belonging to the infamous bounty hunter Jango Fett. What drew me to this blaster initially was the style and shape of it, slim and futuristic, it just looks cool, but the dominating factor that trumps every other reason is the sound it makes when fired. It just sounds powerful and clearly does damage, taking down the formidable Petranaki arena beast Reek with one shot to the head. I would go as far to say that it is an easy equivalent to the deep boom of Harry Callahan€™s 44. Magnum. Perhaps the worst blaster within the Star Wars world was one first seen in Episode II: Attack Of The Clones and was used by the Geonosians - the Sonic Blaster. In the film it looked only semi-effective, sending out a ball of energy, but in Star Wars Battlefront, it was quickly realised (and regretted) that it did nothing more than shock the enemy, causing minimal damage, and you were dead before you could take your second shot.
