10 Awesome Train Wreck Scenes In Films That Are TOTAL Train Wrecks

2. The Lone Ranger - Railroad Works Derailed

The Social Network's Armie Hammer starred alongside Johnny Depp in one of the most overhyped big-budget movies of the 21st century - The Lone Ranger. Released in 2013, The Lone Ranger was a financial bomb resulting in estimated losses of around $200 million. Although the film didn't perform too badly at the box office, it nowhere near made up for the staggering budget on top of the monumental marketing costs.

In this retelling of a western classic, the story focuses around Tonto retelling his adventures of the Lone Ranger as they took down Butch Cavendish and Latham Cole's plan to take control of the railroad company and the silver mine to gain more power.

With a shockingly low Rotten Tomatoes critics score of 30% and an audience score of 50%, the film was too long, boring, devoid of any connection to Armie Hammer's Lone Ranger and a desperate attempt to use CGI and explosions to paper over the plot's gaping cracks. But despite the overuse of explosions and CGI, the train wreck scene catapulting the captured Tonto and Lone Ranger is perfectly done and the best scene of the whole film.
