10 Awful 2014 Movies That Deserved To Bomb At The Box Office
8. Vampire Academy
Budget: $30 million Box office: $15.3 million On paper, Vampire Academy sounds more than a little bit like a cheap Harry Potter-meets-Twilight rip-off. On the screen, Vampire Academy feels pretty much the same, although even worse than you could imagine that turning out. Director Mark Waters appears to be incapable of injecting anything magical into this cheap, lazy film - although it's unlikely he was given much money to work with, if the images on screen are anything to go by - but this is no excuse for such a dreadful screenplay. The plot and dialogue seem to vie with one another in the incoherence stakes, while the performances are exactly what you'd expect from a vacuous cast who should stick to modeling. Do we really need any more young adult fantasty adaptations on the big screen? No, but plenty more are sure to come.
