10 Awful 2018 Horror Movies To Avoid This Halloween

8. The Strangers: Prey At Night

Pretty much everyone agrees that the pool scene in this movie is incredibly well-executed, but other than that, this belated sequel is basically just a generic slasher film with the Strangers branding slapped on it.

With its slack, dull build-up and mostly unremarkable "suspense" sequences, Prey at Night is lowest common denominator genre fare that makes the huge mistake of killing off its best cast member early on.

The performances are generally fine, but the actors are given so little to do, all the way up to an eyeroll-inducing ending.

You'll remember the pool scene and the 80s music throughout, but the latter feels more like a lazy attempt to garner interest than a genuine artistic flourish.
