This is another film that on paper sounds utterly mind-blowing, but ends up not only being a mess of a movie but an embarrassment for almost everyone involved.

Gods of Egypt tried to capture the magic that Clash of the Titans had in getting the Greek myths to the big screen, but ended up being an undeniably messy project filled with horrid looking CGI and some baffling choices.

There is an instant reason why this film should be forgotten, and that is the fact that it's a title about the gods of Egypt, yet is entirely white-washed. A movie on such a big scale has no real excuses for doing this, and the period was recent enough for it to have known better.

However, even had it been appropriately cast, the film is still entirely devoid of any soul. The creations feel like something you've seen many times and don't have a sense of flair to them. In addition to this, the adventure of the title never feels exciting as none of the characters that inhabit the world are easy to become invested in.

Coster-Wadjau could make for an excellent mainstream movie star, but this wasn't the project to do it with.
