10 Awful Movies That Embarrassingly Made A Fortune

2. Mrs. Brown's Boys D'Movie

Minions Movie
BBC

Worldwide Box Office Gross: $29 million

The infuriatingly titled Mrs. Brown's Boys D'Movie (because poor grammar is cool with the kids, yo) may be the lowest grossing film in this list, but it was also the cheapest to produce at just over $3.5 million. This, combined with the fact that Brendan O'Carroll's devilish creation has no international appeal (presumably because foreign nationals have self-respect), means that the film was a huge financial success to the point that a sequel is in the works. Sorry for being the bearer of bad news.

However, is it really a surprise that this film was ever made? The British public recently voted Mrs. Brown's Boys the best sitcom of the century so far, which is both a sorry sign for the state of British television and the intelligence of the British people in general. How anyone can look at the film's poster without being overcome with the strong urge to punch O'Carroll in the face repeatedly is a mystery.

Its offensive unfunniness, irritating characters, poor narrative, and arguable xenophobic narrative resulted in the D'Movie being panned by pretty much every critic in the industry, to the point that said critics were probably questioning their choice of career having to sit through this disaster.

Yet, with the aforementioned sequel in the works, the success of the travelling stage show, and the news that Mrs. Brown could be getting her own game show, all suggests that critics are out of touch. But if being out of touch means not liking this sorry mess of a film, then why would anyone want to be in touch?
