10 Awful Trailers For Surprisingly Good Horror Movies

In Idle Hands, Anton wakes up one day to discover his right hand has developed murderous tendencies. Although that's a scary premise, (and is based on a very real disorder), the trailer makes Idle Hands look like a brainless spoof. Based on the promotions alone, you won't be surprised to learn the movie was destroyed by critics and failed to recoup one-fifth of its budget.

But over the years, Idle Hands is now viewed as a misunderstood cult classic. Yes, it is a stoner comedy, but it's definitely not dumb. The script is tight, every actor's delivery is top-notch, and the kills are creatively violent. The story may be stupid, but that makes it more shocking when you see someone having their scalp peeled off or a needle rammed into a person's ear.

Also, Anton's hand does... something that makes it far more dangerous halfway through the movie, that isn't hinted at in the trailer. So, if you though the trailers gave away too much, think again.

Idle Hands isn't a masterpiece, but it deserves a lot more credit, since it's apparent a lot of effort was put into the film to ensure it was imaginative, witty, and fun.
