10 Badass Movie Villains Defeated Way Too Easily

2. Pennywise (It: Chapter 2)

It Chapter Two Pennywise
Warner Bros.

As good as the first It movie was, it was always strange (and a little bit convenient) that Pennywise didn't just straight-up murder the kids.

Yeah sure, he feeds off fear and all that, but how much seasoning does he have to sprinkle on his victims before they're ready to be munched on? After all, this is a villain who can turn into literally anything - he could transform into a dinosaur and rampage throughout Derry, or morph into a poisonous spider and slip in-and-out of houses, killing silently and efficiently.

His powerset is truly extraordinary and there should be nothing that can stand in his way, which made it all the more disappointing when It: Chapter 2 rolled around and he was defeated in such an underwhelming fashion.

After the Losers' plan to trap Pennywise in a magic jar by performing an ancient ritual fails, they decide to beat him by using another method: the power of angry yelling! Our heroes are able to turn Pennywise from a giant spider into a pile of goop on the floor, simply by calling him names.

It was an unsatisfying demise for the charismatic clown, but fittingly, it fell perfectly in line with the problematic nature of the movie as a whole.
