It's fair to say that this version of Bane didn't exactly require the Daniel Day-Lewis calibre actors of this world to portray the villain, but there really should still have been someone better than a B-list wrestler in the role. It's by no means the late Jeep Swanson's fault that this version of Bane was terrible - he was probably told to camp it up in the terrible way the role was performed - it's just that this isn't how anyone wanted Bane to be portrayed. Swanson performed like a heel wrestler and, as a result, the outcome was less of a comic book villain and more of a 'roid-rage Gobbledy Gooker. Someone with more acting experience would surely have been able to portray the character, even in this mindless form, as more of a physical threat and less of a joke. It was very poor of DC to bring a comic book character of such renown down to this level.
