Val Kilmer was a terrible Batman. There are a select few people who might say otherwise, but he was a terrible Batman. To be fair to Kilmer, he made a decent Bruce Wayne. His looks, his height, his charm and his general smooth and cool persona worked well for the businessman. It came quite natural to him. But Batman he was not. For starters, he wasn't muscular enough. When you think about the shape Christian Bale got in to and compare it to the shirtless scene Val Kilmer did in Batman Forever, it's embarrassing for the latter. Mostly, he just wasn't memorable as the Dark Knight. There was just nothing to him. It's hard to point out anything ridiculous about his performance, but there is simply nothing good to say about it either. He didn't make the role his own at all. On top of the fact that he played a terrible Batman, Joel Schumacher also described Kilmer as "childish and impossible", said that he fought with various crewmen and outright refused to speak to the director for a fortnight after he had told him to stop behaving in a rude way. An all round terrible casting.
