9. Saving Private Ryan (1998)

The story that did inspire this film is actually mentioned by one of its supporting characters in the guise of the late Harve Presnell who orders the titular quest after telling of 3 brothers who died during the civil war which prompted an epic letter to their parents by Abraham Lincoln. Chances are there were indeed many siblings who perished among the millions of WWII casualties, it is however doubtful that any of them bore any resemblance to Tom Hanks nor spoke the Matt Damon-patented Boston accent. How do you like THEM apples, Adolph?
