9. The Bye Bye Man
Supposedly based on a true story – though the story, from a book by documenter of ‘anomalous phenomena’ Robert Damon Schneck and told to the writer by a close friend, seems dubious itself – The Bye Bye Man focuses on three college students who move into an old, creepy house and unearth an evil entity. Despite his decidedly un-nefarious moniker, the mere mention or thought of his name allows him to possess human souls and force them to do utterly heinous things.
With a generic plot, a clichéd villain who seems like a cheap amalgamation of the likes of Freddy Krueger and the Candyman and the direction of Stacy Title, whose most recent credits include Snoop Dogg’s Hood of Horror, it’s probably best to say ‘sayonara’ to The Bye Bye Man before it even hits the big screen.
