10 Best & 10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2016
7. Hush
Rising horror director Mike Flanagan’s latest flick Hush brings a fresh take on the home invasion slasher. Its protagonist, reclusive writer Maddie (Kate Siegel), is deaf which while making her vulnerable also works to her advantage when a masked madman (10 Cloverfield Lane actor John Gallagher Jr) starts stalking her isolated woodland home. A tense, chilling game of cat and mouse unfolds as Maddie uses her creativity as a writer to outwit her stalker and survive.
The relative lack of dialogue amps up the tension and makes Hush stand apart from fellow home invasion movies, while its critical success proves that its microbudget and Netflix release needn’t dampen a movie’s appeal. If you need another reason to see Hush, it also comes with the seal of approval of no other than Stephen King. The master horror writer called the movie a ‘white knuckle’ ride and compared it to the likes of classic horrors Halloween and Wait Until Dark.
