10 Best Blumhouse Horror Movies You've Probably Never Seen

What would have happened if Tom Hanks had been stranded on an island with a monster instead of a volleyball? Sweetheart sets out to answer that question.

After a boating accident, Jen (Kiersey Clemons) washes ashore a small deserted island with a friend who dies shortly after, leaving her alone. While learning to survive on the island, Jen becomes aware that something isn't exactly right with the island and begins to doubt that she truly is alone.

While a slow burner, Sweetheart clocks in under 90 minutes. This makes it a perfect quick watch for anyone who is looking for a short horror movie to get their hands on. The length does nothing but help the film, as things do not drag out and nothing really overstays its welcome.

Just like Cast Away, the beginning half of this film features little to no dialogue as our main character is alone on an island fighting for survival. This is where Clemons shines as she is able to convey so much emotion in her body language especially when things start to take a turn for the worse.

Sweetheart also boasts one of the best monster reveals in any recent horror movie. A scene that, had enough people saw it, would be talked about more often. It plays into the slow building tension perfectly and builds the sense of dread to a boiling point. It is without a doubt the highlight of the film and a moment that will stick with you.
