10 Best British Films Of The Last Decade

Sexy Beast director Jonathan Glazer delivers one of the most entrancing and singular sci-fi films ever made with this sumptuous, unforgettable depiction of an alien (Scarlett Johansson) posing as an attractive woman in order to feed on men in Scotland.

Johansson gives easily the best performance of her career in this subdued, eerily quiet thriller, which by depicting human life from the perspective of an alien, demonstrates just how bizarre humanity really is.

Glazer's surreal visuals and Mica Levi's incredible musical score, especially during the alien's feeding process, create a deeply unsettling mood which grows increasingly disturbing right up to the brutal final moments.

It might be too "arty" for those expecting more mainstream thrills out of a Scarlett Johansson-starring sci-fi, but its more restrained, pared-down approach is ultimately much more powerful.
