10 Best British Films Of The Last Decade

4. In The Loop

Legendary TV satirist Armando Iannucci helms this outrageous spin-off from his acclaimed TV show The Thick of It, savagely skewering English-American political relations in what just might be this generation's Dr. Strangelove.

A trenchant examination of the pettiness of the "Special Relationship" and the circus that is international relations in general, In the Loop is propelled forward by Peter Capaldi's Oscar-worthy performance as the Prime Minister's Director of Communications, Malcolm Tucker, who makes a Shakespearean art form out of swearing at every errant opportunity.

The entire cast is fantastic, though, especially Tom Hollander, Chris Addison, Anna Chlumsky, Zach Woods and James Gandolfini, who perfectly suit the fiery wit of Ianucci's pen. If this is the best thing he ever makes, that would be no crime at all.
