5. Better Watch Out
Better Watch Out is a psychological horror with a Christmas bent that was released in 2017 to positive reviews. The cast features Olivia DeJonge and Ed Oxenbould, a pair of young actors that had previously worked together on M. Night Shyamalan's 2015 horror The Visit.
The plot concerns a teenager played by DeJonge who must babysit a precocious 12-year old boy at Christmas time. Things go from festive to sinister, however, when a masked intruder invades the house.
The movie takes some seriously surprising twists and turns throughout and expertly builds suspense as deranged mind games ensue over the course of the film. The cast deliver all around solid performances, which is impressive for a relatively low budget Christmas horror.
While it uses the holidays as more of a setting rather than a plot element and isn't as Christmas-centric as some of the other entries on this list, it is a very fun thrill ride that includes enough festive imagery to justify its place on this list.
