10 Best Christmas Horror Movies
4. Krampus
This is the second movie on this list that incorporates the legend of Krampus into its plot, and it's safe to say that it's the best of the two, in general and in terms of how it explores the folklore of Saint Nick's ancient evil counterpart. This is the second directorial effort from Michael Dougherty, who previously helmed 2008's critically acclaimed gem Trick 'r Treat.
He continues his trend of holiday-based horror and swaps out Halloween with Christmas in this yuletide romp that follows a young boy lose his festive spirit because of his dysfunctional family, and unwittingly incurs a visit from the titular monster.
The film boasts a terrific cast that includes Toni Collette, Adam Scott, Allison Tolman and David Koechner, all of whom deliver wonderfully entertaining performances as they are subjected to Christmassy mayhem. It maintains its darkly ironic tone throughout and produces one of the most fun holiday horror movies out there with its blend of humour, goofiness and thrills.
The movie was released in December 2015 and received positive reviews as well as earning $61 million at the box office.
