10 Best Hard Rock Soundtrack Albums

9. Spider-Man (2002)

Given how much the superhero movie genre has been pushed forward, it's hard not to look back on the original Spider-Man movies and not giggle a little bit. Much like Sam Raimi envisioned, the campy nature of these films feel so earnest nowadays, being the perfect type of cheese from the turn of the century. Compared to the story though, there's actually a lot of kickass on the soundtrack to Tobey Maguire's first step up to the plate.

I mean, it doesn't come without its fair share of misses (after all, there is a duet between Chad Kroeger and Josey Scott), but the actual deep cuts are what set this album apart from your by the numbers mixtape. Covering the more adolescent side of rock, the tunes on here run the gamut of genres, down to Aerosmith contributing to perform the iconic theme song. On the other end of the spectrum though, we have Sum 41's flirtation with rap metal on What We're All About and even the debut release from Stone Sour on the track Bother, which is the only real depressing ballad on the record.

Even the table scraps from the sessions could have been amazing, with Stone Temple Pilots' All In The Suit that You Wear being one of their best deep cuts written for the film. For as much as the Green Goblin mugging for the camera might seem goofy now, you can't deny the chops on the back half.
