10 Best Horror Comedy TV Shows You Need To See

3. The League Of Gentlemen

Journey to The League of Gentlemen's town of Royston Vasey to see just how dark and nasty rural Britain can get. A small village out in the armpit of the dales, Royston Vasey is inhabited by freaks, weirdos, psychopaths and murderers - all played by the League themselves, Reece Shearsmith, Steve Pembertona and Mark Gatiss.

This BBC sketch show acquaints viewers with the lot of them, from unlucky vet Mr. Chinnery to monstrous butcher Hilary Briss and 'corner' shop owners Edward and Tubbs. It's a very British Twin Peaks, crossed with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

There are three seasons and a movie worth of the League's terrible antics (not counting standup and radio shows). Like Little Britain, it hasn't aged terribly well in places, but it's delightfully dark and undeniably funny aside from these moments of dated television. It also brought audiences a horror villain for the ages in Papa Lazarou, the wife-stealing circus master and by far the most terrifying of all the League's many creations.
