10 Best Horror Movie Remakes

5. Dawn Of The Dead (2004)

Dawnofthedead3Based On: George Romero's zombie movies, particularly the 1978 Dawn of the Dead Before Zack Snyder was being over-analyzed on seemingly every part of the internet for Man of Steel and the casting of Batfleck, he directed Dawn of the Dead as his first feature film. But, believe it or not, there were several criticisms of Snyder's handling of a classic property in 2004 as well. Sure, the movie isn't as thematically concerned with the issue of consumerism than in the original, and the fast-moving zombies are a departure for the genre, but one thing that those crazy-fast zombies are is scary. Snyder was already developing his style as a visceral filmmaker here, and he showcased his impressive visual acumen with Dawn of the Dead while receiving some of the criticisms he will most likely continue to receive for the rest of his career. But don't let the famous director impact your opinion of the movie, it's vastly entertaining and features surprisingly emotional performances from Sarah Polley and Jake Weber.
