10 Best Horror Movie Scream Queens
2. Adrienne Barbeau
Almost out-doing her The Fog co-star Jamie Lee Curtis, eighties horror icon Adrienne Barbeau's career boasts a string of classic horrors which few of her contemporary equivalents can hope to compete with.
The hardy heroine impressed in everything from Halloween helmer John Carpenter’s The Fog, to Night of the Living Dead director George A Romero’s anthology horror Creepshow, to A Nightmare on Elm Street creator Wes Craven’s Swamp Thing in the early eighties.
Marginally older than many of the genre's leading ladies at the time, Barbeau is best remembered for playing a more mature brand of final girl than the ingenues most viewers were expecting from the latest slasher.
And that's not to mention the actor's later career renaissance in the more underrated horror comedy likes of 1998's cartoon classic kid's horror adventure Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island and 1989's silly satire Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death.
