10 Best Horror Movie Scream Queens
1. Mary Elizabeth Winstead
This is, admittedly, a potentially controversial pick for the number one spot, given that this actor was barely even alive let alone acting for the heyday of the slasher film.
But consider this...
Starting her onscreen career as she meant to go on with a minor role in 2005's The Ring Two, future Birds of Prey heroine Mary Elizabeth Winstead soon came to prominence via a string of starring roles in horror films ranging from 2006’s risible aforementioned Black Christmas remake, Pulp Fiction director Tarantino’s Grindhouse instalment Death Proof, and the third entry into the Final Destination franchise.
Now this one year stint in the genre would have earned her a place in the scream queen pantheon alone, even if she did move on to many more serious dramatic roles.
But Winstead's return to the genre via 2011’s underrated The Thing remake, a villainous role in the 2014 psychological thriller Faults, a love interest part in the aptly-titled horror comedy Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, AND another horror heroine part in 10 Cloverfield Lane?
Iconic.
