10 Best Horror Movies Of 2025 (So Far)
This year's best and most insane horror movies.

The horror genre is in one hell of a healthy place right now, as whether you're heading out to the movies or watching films at home, there are more quality horror flicks releasing every single month than the vast majority of people actually have time to watch. It's an embarrassment of riches, for sure.
And 2025 has certainly been a great year for horror already, with a bevy of banger titles for genre fans to feast their eyes and ears upon, from long-awaited entries into beloved franchises to entirely original new stories from rising filmmakers.
As we edge close to the second half of the year, these are the 10 horror movies which best exemplified what the genre should be doing in 2025 - pushing boundaries, messing us up, and getting really, really weird with it.
These 10 horror films were brutal, darkly hilarious, ambitious as hell, and above all else totally unforgettable. They weren't perfect of course, but what film is?
On the balance of everything, they're the recent horror movies all fans of the genre need to get on their watchlists and see as soon as possible...
10. The Monkey

Barely six months after he dropped his bewildering Longlegs, Osgood Perkins returned with The Monkey, which couldn't be more polar opposite in tone to Perkins' previous effort.
A blackly hilarious adaptation of Stephen King's short story of the same name, The Monkey is at its best when mining the thigh-slapping absurdity of a cursed toy monkey with the ability to cause random horrifying deaths when its key is turned.
Perkins obviously relishes dishing up a smattering of bonkers death scenes which largely feel akin to Final Destination on bath salts, while weaving a deeply twisted tale of family trauma and toxic sibling rivalry.
Theo James gives a terrific performance as twins Hal and Bill, turning out to be a pitch perfect partner for the sicko thrills of Perkins' script.
And above all else, The Monkey just might feature the single funniest smash cut in recent cinema history - if you know, you know.
And because Perkins apparently doesn't sleep, his next horror film Keeper - which will reunite him with The Monkey's Tatiana Maslany - has already been shot and is mere months away from release.
