If the only thing you've heard about Late Night with the Devil is that the production used AI to make some of their graphics, you have missed out on one of the more exciting entries in the horror canon in the last couple of years.
Directors Colin and Cameron Cairnes drop us into the studio of Night Owls with Jack Delroy on Halloween night for a bottle movie quite unlike any other. Delroy (played to perfection by David Dastmalchian, taking a rare step outside his usual supporting roles) hosts an evening of talk TV that he hopes will boost the show's flagging ratings and revitalise his career, by attempting to commune with the demonic spirit supposedly possessing 13-year-old Lilly D'Abo (Ingrid Torelli).
A new spin on the found footage documentary, Late Night with the Devil uses a talk show's professional photography to give an unusually clear glimpse at the horrors that unfold when the show goes off the rails.
The film captures the terror of The Exorcist and transplants it from the privacy of a suburban bedroom to the exposure of a televised, live audience environment - and, as is the nature of live TV, absolutely anything can go wrong.
