10 Best Horror Movies Under 90 Minutes
6. Hush (2016)
Speaking of home-invasion horror, 2016’s Netflix original Hush is almost the exact inverse of Don’t Breathe, in that it concerns a deaf woman, Maddie (played by Kate Siegel) who must fight off a masked assailant attempting to break into her secluded house. Despite her significant disadvantage, Maddie continuously outsmarts the intruder, even going so far as to write a goodbye message to her family in which she includes a physical description of the killer so he can be brought to justice should she die, which is a refreshing change of pace for a movie of this genre.
Given its simple premise, it makes sense that Hush only lasts for a mere 82 minutes, but the nifty pacing and assured direction result in a short and sweet modern slasher. With established horror talent like Mike Flanagan and Siegel - of The Haunting of Hill House fame - behind the camera, you can expect this pleasantly compact thriller to be a skillfully constructed horror gem.
