10 Best Marvel Movie Cameos Of All Time

8. Rebecca Romijn (X-Men: First Class)

The original X-Men trilogy was instrumental in the success of comic book movies today and although some characters suffered in the translation from the original source material to the big screen, one character who made a huge impact in each of the movies was Mystique. The shape-shifting villain was a major player in the first two films, so fans were outraged when Mystique's role was cut short in the disappointing third movie X-Men: The Last Stand. While her fight scenes and striking look contributed to Mystique's popularity in Bryan Singer's first two X-Men movies, credit must also be given to Rebecca Romijn, the former fashion model who became one of the franchises breakout stars, despite having almost no prior acting experience. After the third film received a critical mauling, 20th Century Fox decided to try a new approach, making a prequel called X-Men: First Class which featured an entirely new cast of characters not yet seen on the big screen and younger versions of favorites from the original trilogy. In one particularly memorable scene from X-Men: First Class, Jennifer Lawrence's new version of Mystique tries to seduce Magneto, but due to the age gap, Erik tells Raven to try again in a few years when she's older. Rather than give up, Mystique instead transforms into an older version of herself, who turns out to be played by none other than Rebecca Romijn herself. This uncredited cameo was a complete surprise for audiences who saw X-Men: First Class in cinemas for the first time. It's one of those rare occasions when a cameo makes perfect sense within the context of the movie and doesn't feel forced in any way. Including Romijn was also an extremely clever way to remind audiences that the movie is still part of the same universe as the previous X-Men films, tying each of them together in a subtle yet logical way.
