Black Panther's CGI-doused finale wasn't exactly a battle for the ages, but it did at least lead to an unexpectedly affecting sign-off for the villainous Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan).

After being mortally wounded in the fight against T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman), Erik emerges from the maglev tunnel to be greeted with the beautiful Wakandan sunrise he'd never had the pleasure of seeing before.

T'Challa offers to save his life with nifty Wakandan tech, but Erik gives the instantly iconic reply: "Just bury me in the ocean with my ancestors that jumped from ships, 'cause they knew death was better than bondage."

Erik follows up by removing the blade form his chest and dying moments later. It's frequently said that the MCU has no stakes and it's hard to feel emotion about anyone dying because they can just be magicked back to life, but this had a finality and a sadness to it that cemented it as an all-timer comic book movie death.
