10 Best Movie Trailers Of The 2010s

3. Logan

Superhero movies have received plenty of criticism in recent times – most notably from legendary director Martin Scorsese. Whilst some of these criticisms have a degree of truth to them, films like Logan remind us just how powerful the genre can be.

The tone of this trailer sets the stage for Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Wolverine. He is introduced as an exhausted and physically-beaten figure with trembling hands and a scarred body.

The voices of Jackman and Patrick Stewart add to this tone but without giving away much of the story. Aside from the introduction of Laura Kinney (played by Dafne Keen), the trailer is relatively thin on plot details.

Johnny Cash’s cover of ‘Hurt’ (originally by Nine Inch Nails) is the other obvious highlight. The latter half blends the song beautifully with snippets of the film’s hard-hitting action sequences without compromising the sombre tone of the trailer’s opening.

Rarely do trailers leave such a lasting impact. Even with countless re-watches, this brief look at Logan never fails to resonate.
