Skyfall is regarded by many as one of the best Bond films of all time, and with good reason. It combines Daniel Craig’s gritty portrayal with the classic flavour of the earlier movies in the 1960s.

Everything from the pre-title sequence to the final credits is entertaining. Yet there are still plenty of individual highlights. The sequences in Shanghai, Silva’s escape from MI6, and the nail-biting finale are amongst the best scenes in the entire franchise.

There’s also a number of fresh faces. In addition to Lieutenant Colonel Gareth Mallory (Ralph Fiennes), we’re introduced to Bond’s new quartermaster (Ben Whishaw), and a new Moneypenny (Naomie Harris). All these characters have an interesting dynamic with Bond and it’s great to see them return in Spectre.

Very few Bond movies can stand shoulder to shoulder with Skyfall. Whilst Casino Royale is still Craig’s best outing as 007, Skyfall is a very close second.
