Session 9 is a 2001 American psychological horror, following the story of a cleaning crew as they begin their next job at an abandoned mental hospital, uncovering the scary past that resides within.

The plot is paralleled with the ex-patients taped sessions, revealing what really went on with the psychiatrist's new methods used on them, and what lies in store for the cleaners who have gullibly entered the building.

In total, there are nine taped sessions (hence the title), finishing within the film's climax, as the characters attempt to escape the hauntings within their own heads before it is too late, and the patient's minds begin to control their own.

Fans of Stephen King can pull a variety of references to the genre he is famously known for, as the movie works on slow building tensions throughout, just like their heavily inspired author. With a modern outtake, the film features a variety of jumpy moments - even if some tense scenes lead to red herrings, thus causing some mixed audience reviews.

For a psychological horror, this movie does its job, making you discover the mysteries within the plot whilst also being undeniably scared to see what's next.
