It wouldn't be fair to talk about the best Robin Williams performances without giving a massive shout-out to the sitcom that made him famous.

Following a successful guest spot on the sitcom Happy Days, where he played the relentlessly hilarious alien Mork, Williams was given the chance to headline his own show as the much-loved extraterrestrial.

Morky & Mindy ran for four seasons, charting the titular pair's relationship and following Mork as he attempted - with often uproarious results - to find his place in the world and understand American culture.

Thanks to years as a stand-up comedian, the role of Mork gave Williams ample opportunity to flex his improvisational skills and show off his remarkably hyperactive approach to comedy, but also gave him the chance to find the deeper humanity within the character.

A great slice of sitcom hilarity, Williams' lead performance is so good and iconic that for many fans, Mork will always be his most quintessential role.
