4. Yondu (Guardians Of The Galaxy)
When we first met this blue-skinned weirdo, he was primarily painted as a secondary antagonist who just happened to be way more compelling than the primary antagonist. He and his band of Ravagers chased Peter Quill and the gang across the galaxy, trying to get their hands on the infinity stone in the end.
But as it turns out, we had Yondu wrong all along. Turns out, he was a noble father to Quill from the beginning, who kept Quill aboard his ship rather than returning him to his father, Ego, who was just going to kill him. Yondu had covered up this truth for years from Quill and the other Ravagers but ultimately finds his true heroic purpose in saving Quill from Ego once more, when Ego shows back up. Yondu gives his life protecting Quill, loving him like only a 'daddy' can.
On top of that, he controls an arrow with a whistle, which is one of the most bonkers abilities anyone has ever put to screen. Plus, he gets some of the best action and comedy beats in the film. Anyone who utters the line, "I'm Mary Poppins, y'all!", deserves to go down in history as one of the greatest side characters the MCU ever made.
