10 Best Vampire Movies Of The 2000s

5. Blade 2 (2002)

Blade 2
New Line Cinema

Following the success of Stephen Norrington's original imagining of the vampire/human vampire hunter, first seen in Marvel Comics, a second film was commissioned and directing duties were passed over to Guillermo del Toro.

This time round, Blade is tasked with taking down the Reapers, a new breed of vampire intent on destroying both mankind and the vampire community.

A relentless action and a dark horror, the sequel succeeds by doing everything the original did and turning it up to eleven. With Ron Perlman, Norman Reedus and of course Kris Kristofferson coming in for supporting duties, it's also a film full of quippy one-liners and satisfying character interactions.

But perhaps the best aspect of the film is del Toro's direction - a man who has carved a career from being the master of dark, surreal fairytale movies, Blade 2 has all the best parts of his signature style, making the film slightly darker than its predecessor, filling it with a healthy dose of super-cool new vampires which are genuinely scary and brilliantly realised in the process.
