7. Morbius
Sony are trying to make the best of their lot, making an entire movie universe out of all the Spider-Man characters... except Spider-Man. Venom started to show what they could do, though it wasn’t without its flaws, and the addition of Tom Holland’s Spidey in the sequel could certainly help sure things up.
With Morbius though, there’s less indication that Sony are heading in the right direction at all.
The casting of Jared Leto isn’t necessary terrible, with the actor having turned in some great performances in the likes of Dallas Buyers Club, Fight Club and Requiem For A Dream across his long and substantial career. However, after Suicide Squad his name feels like scorched earth for comic book movies.
The character of Morbius himself, while popular with comic book fans, is a bit of a hard sell too. Added to the lack of promo or even substantial rumours for the film could indicate that Sony don’t have as much faith in the film as they probably need, or that progress is further behind than it should be.
They’re all ingredients which could get fans worried.
