10 Big Questions From Venom's New Trailer
1. Will It Be PG-13?
The biggest question still surrounding the film is what its rating will be.
Though initial claims as it moved into production seemed to indicate that Sony was looking towards crafting an R-rated spin-off for the toothy wonder, they now seem to be backtracking that. Last weekend at SDCC, not only were Fleischer and Hardy quick to dodge the question, Hardy said;
"My son is a massive Venom fan, and he was a strong influence on me why I should play Venom specifically. I wanted to do something my son could watch."
Considering that Tom Hardy's son is only ten years old, it doesn't exactly sound like Hardy is rooting for the hard-R rating. Take that into account alongside the fact that all of the trailers thus far have been green-band, and things start to look even less promising.
Nothing in this new trailer even remotely hints at anything more violent than a standard MCU film. Venom may be talking about eating people, but Sony's reluctance to actually show any of it is worrying and makes it seem as if, in the editing process, Sony got cold feet and decided to neuter the film.
