7. They Fixed Symbiote?
Much to the chagrin of all of the internet, the previous trailer for Venom very noticeably pronounced symbiote as sym-bye-ote rather than sym-be-ote. Of all the things that were questionable in Venom's previous trailer, this was the thing that everyone latched onto for some reason.
Sony and the team behind Venom seem to have taken this criticism very much to heart because the new trailer goes out of its way to have Carlton Drake say the word and pronounce it as the latter rather than the former.
Does this mean that the film as a whole will now exclusively feature characters pronouncing it that way?
Maybe. It's worth noting that while this trailer has Riz Ahmed doing the pronouncing, the previous one had Jenny Slate saying the word. So it's entirely possible that the two characters just pronounce it differently, although that would be a bit of a strange choice.
The other possibility is that Venom hasn't changed anything other than this trailer and that the film proper will still feature everyone pronouncing it the prior way, and that Sony just didn't want everyone hounding them about it again for this trailer.
