Sure, your average guilty pleasure superhero movie's great, but if only there were more that had Christopher Lee singing musical numbers? Well as luck would have it...

1982's The Return of Captain Invincible feels wildly ahead of its time as it follows a post-modern premise similar to The Incredibles. The titular hero is a recovering alcoholic re-training to become a hero after being made a scapegoat in the times of McCarthyism: his red cape may be indicative of sympathies towards communism, he flies without a proper license, and wears his underwear on the outside. However, at times it also feels incredibly outdated, relying on shoddy editing and special effects that feel reminiscent of the early seventies and sixties.

Don't let that taint your viewing though, it's when the film hits its notes of genius that it makes for really compelling viewing. Alan Arkin is always charismatic enough to carry a film and seeing Christopher Lee sing anything at any time is reason enough to view it and love it.
