10 Biggest Missed Opportunities In Recent Comic Book Movies
3. Oscorp (Spider-Man: Far From Home)
After the events of Avengers: Endgame closed out over a decade of the MCU in a satisfying and open-ended conclusion, Spider-Man: Far From Home was supposed to be a guiding light that would demonstrate to fans that the overall franchise was far from over and that there would be many more quality superhero movies coming in the future. Audiences were excited to see classic Spider-Man villain Mysterio brought to live-action for the first time and were hopeful that more of his iconic rogues gallery were waiting in the wings.
While Far From Home did well in its presentation of Mysterio, reintroduced J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson to universal applause, and teased a new and unknown future for Spider-Man, it didn't suggest that any of his other big nemeses were skulking in the background. Which is even more of a pity seeing as doing so would have been easy. It didn't need to actually show any more villains or have any background cameos or anything, it just needed to drop one name: Oscorp.
Oscorp, the company that created the radioactive spider that gave Peter Parker his powers and is owned by Norman Osborn a.k.a. the Green Goblin, has never been mentioned in the MCU but is nevertheless instrumental to not only Spider-Man himself but also his assorted villains. Most of them were created by Oscorp and leaving the company out of the series thus far has left a noticeable plot hole to fill.
