8. The Title
Oh, this old chestnut. You still expect Paramount to turn around and announce it was one big, time-travelling April Fools joke and the movie has a proper title, but as the release date inches closer it's slowly dawning that the film is really, seriously, genuinely going to be called Terminator Genisys. Throughout production the movie was called Terminator Genesis, which is only a small step away from calling it Terminator Reboot, but the marketing guys somehow managed to take that and make it something even worse. Just what does Genisys add to the movie, that Genesis didn't? We're no longer in the nineties - misspellings and tech-y phrases aren't are shortcut to getting down with the kids. The trailer had a brief glimpse of a computer screen which appeared to flash the word Genisys, but to justify the name it's going to need to be something more relevant in-movie than just a deux ex machina computer program. Even on a grammatical level it makes no sense. Looking at the logo Genisys is meant to be a subtitle, but there's no colon. It's a minor quibble when compared to the spelling snafu, but is no less perplexing when this is trying to sit alongside the likes of Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Terminator Salvation was likewise grammar-less, but at least saying that didn't make you sick a little in your mouth. Here's hoping there's not one last minute change to Termynator Genysys.
