It seems that each week Marvel Studios moves forward with another project, either adding cast members to upcoming films, moving release dates, teasing new films, or talking about new TV shows. This week we received two new developments for their Phase 3 films, one of which was the hiring of the writers for Thor 3. The studio announced early this week that Thor: The Dark World co-wrtier Christopher Yost would be returning for the threequel, and will be joined by Craig Kyle. Kyle is transitioning from being a Senior Vice President of Production and Development at the studio to a "full-time screenwriter." He was the executive producer on the first two Thor films, and his writing credits include several of the Marvel animated films and TV series including X-Men: Evolution, Iron Man: Armored Adventures and Planet Hulk. Marvel President Kevin Feige had this to say about Craig's new job at the company:
"I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years. His creative instincts have helped shape 'Thor' and 'Thor: The Dark World' at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor's adventure."
We still don't know for sure when Thor 3 will hit theaters, though we know that Marvel has several release dates locked for upcoming films on May 6, 2016, July 8, 2016, and May 5, 2017. Chances are Thor 3 will arrive on that May 6 date, unless the studio decides not to go head-to-head the same weekend as Batman Vs. Superman. And now, on to the second bit of Marvel news this week...
