5. Jada Pinkett Smith Joins Gotham

Fox's Gotham series is shaping up fast,
after casting a variety of characters last week, including Jim Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Alfred Pennyworth, and The Penguin. Now, another name has been added to the roster: Jada Pinkett Smith will play Fish Mooney, a "sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner" with "almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book. Imposing and hotheaded, she's not one to be crossed." The news left DC fans scratching their heads, because no one in the comics is named Fish Mooney. She's a completely original character, and is the boss of "a young psycho named Oswald Cobblepot," who we all know grows up to be the Penguin. Fans have already been speculating that this may be a cover and that Fish may in fact be a different character, or someday
become a different character. Of course, not everyone on the show has to be from the comics, so that may just be wishful thinking on their part. We'll just have to see what happens when the show finally airs (possibly later this year).
