8. The "Paint Death" In 'Goldfinger' Was Real

Goldfinger's most iconic scene also serves as the catalyst for one of the most infamous urban legends in film history, that the actress who played Goldfinger's secretary Jill Masterson in the film actually died from asphyxiation due to being covered with gold paint. This legend actually stems from the film itself, in as much as it made people believe that a human being could die from suffocation simply by having all of their pores covered with paint, which we know now is patently untrue. Though being covered in toxic substances for a long time is not advisable by any medical professional, actress Shirley Eaton who played Masterson suffered no consequences of being covered in gold paint for the role, and so this urban legend feels more like something spun by the film's PRs to make the iconic moment seem even more exciting, dangerous and controversial. Of course, above all else, it would have been a legal nightmare if a make-up artist had managed to accidentally kill one of the cast...
