10 Blatantly Unfinished Movies (That Were Released Anyway)
6. A Sound Of Thunder
Prolific sci fi author Ray
Bradbury may be one of the genre’s most influential scribes, and don’t take our
word for it when future Crazy Ex Girlfriend star Rachel Bloom’s raunchy ode to
the author exists. F*** Me Ray Bradbury is a hysterical love letter to the
writer’s inimitable contribution to the genre, and it’s just as well Bloom put it
together, given Bradbury’s sad history onscreen.
Despite penning iconic works such as Something Wicked This Way Comes and Farenheit 451, Bradbury’s work has never successfully made the transition to the big screen outside of a few widely derided adaptations. Worst among this bunch is 2005’s infamous A Sound of Thunder, which was rushed to cinemas and promptly flopped despite a massive budget and the involvement of big name director Renny Harlin.
So, what happened?
Well, it helps to have the
entire budget secured before shooting commences, and original star Pierce Brosnan’s
sudden departure as production commenced should have been a warning sign. The
film as it came out is plagued by blatantly unfinished effects which would have
been embarrassing in 1993, but which looked downright diabolical on the big
screen a dozen years after the release of Jurassic Park.
