6. Die Hard

The first Die Hard - released in 1988 - was one of the very best movies I have ever seen. It was virtually perfect. Great hero. Great villain. Great henchmen. Great action. Great plot. Great ending. In a perfect world, the Die Hard franchise would have begun - and ended - right there. Ours is not a perfect world. So Die Hard beget Die Hard 2: Die Harder. Die Hard 3: With a Vengeance came next. And so on. And so on. Supercop John McClane may be an expert marksman, highly intelligent, very intuitive, as brave as they come, and as tough as a $2 steak. But even he is human. Sooner or later, McClane's luck would run out, wouldn't it? This past February saw the release of A Good Day to Die Hard; featuring John McClane smoking Russian bad-guys beside his now-grown son, John Jr.. What's next, 20th Century Fox? Detective McClane teaming up with his grandchildren? Die Hardest is coming. In the 6th installment, McClane will be in Tokyo doing what he does best. Yippy-ki-yay? Try no way.
