10 Cancelled Comic Book Movies That Sound Insanely Good

5. X-Men Origins: Magneto

After the comparative disaster of X-Men: The Last Stand, Fox decided to spin-off into solo movies, with Wolverine's Origins movie kicking off that agenda. It wasn't to be the only Origins movie either, as they had a Magneto project lined up too.

In fact, X-Men: First Class was only greenlit on the provision that Magneto did well, which in turn relied on Wolverine working. Bryan Singer was apparently lined up to return, with the film set in 1962 and including Magneto and Professor X teaming up to take on a villain.

Unfortunately, the first Origins movie tanked and Sir Ian McKellen confirmed in 2009 that he was too old to reprise his role (even though he later returned for Days Of Future Past). And ultimately, First Class ended up borrowing some of the same story, even though Singer denied using its script as the basis of First Class. A Writers Guild of America arbitration disagreed, so the Magneto movie lived on in some fashion.

It's just a shame we didn't get a full feature of Magneto Nazi hunting.
